Boat Seats: Get Them For Free, Or Cheaply

Boating is a fantastic hobby for friends, families, work colleagues, sportspeople and even individuals to take part in together. There's just something about going out to the open sea, or to a lake, at the end of a long week that makes the worries of the daily routine and of the world melt away.

It could be on a vessel equipped for fishing, on a powerful yacht or on a leisurely freshwater pontoon; in any case it is a fantastic pastime that pleases young and old.

Boat seats are important to have on any on these leisure activities, and even more so if it is your work that's taking you out onto the water. But it's not always desirable to pay the whole price for seating as it might turn out to be quite expensive.

For the money-wise mariner, there are plenty of alternatives to buying boat seats at full price, whether it's buying used or just finding a cost-effective solution to buy new.

Buying good boat seats that have already been used is, of course, one of the most viable options. Good places to look at are the local classifieds, as well as ads at your nearest boating club. Ask your boating friends too, they may just have what you need in their garage. You may of course have to do some minor repairs, but it will well be worth it and you will save loads.

As for new boat seats, one option is to buy in bulk. Get your boating friends from the club together to negotiate a price with a dealer, and even if you get different seats, chances are high that you will get a good discount.

Even if you are buying new by yourself, ask the shop if they have any special offers on boat seats. Often these are not advertised prominently, so you will need to ask. Sometimes discounts will materialize just because you asked for it, so never neglect this step!

Another possibility is buying aftermarket. This means getting your boat seats from a line that is about to end, and that the retailer wants to have out of his warehouse quickly. There are lots of shops that specialize in this kind of sale, and they will allow you to save a huge amount of money if you are just willing to look.

Another great option is buying boat seats online, through the Internet. Online shops have lower overheads and are therefore able to pass on reductions to the customer. Plus, if you buy a seat that you don't like the retailer must give you a guaranteed full refund.

Another very cheap source of boat seats are auctions, whether online on sites such as eBay or off-line. Check the local and trade papers to fund out if any auctions are being held in the local area.
